CanalTech first reported this news. Many people own smartphones as mentioned above in several countries. Hence, they must now upgrade to a new smartphone.
However, this decision comes after manufacturers of smartphones only provide a few years of support for it. Software companies such as Meta optimize their apps for newer software versions because of software and hardware version compatibility.
So, you must have at least a device running iOS 12 or Android 5 Lollipop to use WhatsApp. It is significant to note that we have covered only well-known handsets to be no longer supported by WhatsApp in the coming days.
Hence, WhatsApp on less expensive Android phones running Android 4 or earlier versions will stop functioning. Users of non-supported devices will receive notifications from WhatsApp about upgrading their devices.
