US Senator introduced anti-Pakistan bill in support of India
US Republican Senator Marco Rubio introduced an anti-Pakistan bill that seeks to cut off security support to Pakistan due to its supposed threats to India. Senator Marco represented this bill in Congress.
He demanded it under the US-Indian Defence Cooperation Act. He cited a report on Pakistan’s use of offensive force including terrorism and proxy groups against India.
This bill aims to stop Pakistan from receiving assistance if it is found to have sponsored terrorism against India. Senator Marco also suggested this bill is “critical” to expand the strategic political, economic, and military ties, with India. It will undermine the influence of China in this region.
According to Marco, India will be able to respond more effectively to growing challenges to its territorial integrity with this bill. It provides essential security backing for India.
Senator Marco wants to grant India the same status about technology transfers as US allies like Japan, Israel, South Korea, and other NATO members.
Moreover, he recommends that India be granted a restricted exemption from CAATSA penalties. CAATSA refers to Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act).
It is significant to note that the US government can apply penalties on countries that purchase crucial defense hardware from Russia under the strict CAATSA law.

If the US Congress approves the anti-Pakistan bill that Senator Marco introduced. India won’t have to worry about US sanctions while buying Russian military hardware.
Moreover, the bill convinces Congress to consider certification letters of offer to sell defense articles, and defense services to India. It also suggests considering selling major defense equipment to India which is in the interest of the US.
Marco emphasized the bill in the interest of peace and stability for America. India has the capability needed to eliminate threats. It also wants to permit the Secretary of State to sign an agreement with India to collaborate on defense issues.
