University student shot down in Karachi while resisting robbers

A university student named Shiekh Muhammad Nihal, 22 years old, was shot down in a gun battle while talking down robbers in Karachi. This incident happened near New Sabzi Mandi on the Superhighway when robbers tried to rob him.

Zulfiqar Bhangwar is SHO of SITE-Superhighway. According to Zulfiqar, Nihal and his uncle, Sheikh Muhammad Ayaz, were on a motorcycle after attending a dinner in North Nazimabad. 

Meanwhile, armed robbers stopped them, who were also traveling on a motorcycle near Jamali Pul. However, Nihal was carrying a licensed gun. He pulled it out and started firing at the robbers when they stopped them. 

In response to Nihal’s retaliatory fires, robbers also started shooting at Nihal and Ayaz. As a result of the fierce gunfire exchange, Nihal, Ayaz, and robbers suffered deep injuries. 

Hence, only Uncle Ayaz survived critical injuries, while a young university student Nihal, and robbers died on the spot on the Karachi superhighway.

 According to law enforcement officials, the dead robbers were on the list of suspects men as they had involvement in several crimes. After the fatal shooting incident, officials shifted injured and dead bodies to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

The medical staff of the hospital reported that Ayaz’s condition was stable as a gunshot wound to his hand. Tragically, young university student Nihal was shot down by robbers due to ineffective security measures on the Karachi superhighway.

Nihal was a student of the architecture department of Nazeer Hussain University. He was the only son of his parents. His family and other relatives paid his funeral prayers in the later part of the day at a nearby mosque in North Nazimabad while witnessing a traumatic and emotional experience.

Uncle Ayaz mourned the death of Nihal. He strongly criticized the law enforcement officials for leaving the city at the mercy of robbers. MQM-P politician Ali Khursheedi also attended the funeral ceremony of Nihal. 

Ali also expressed resentment about the increasing number of murderers of citizens by robbers. He emphasized and urged the Sindh governor and other relevant officials to reduce street crime in Karachi.
