Three more ex-army officers arrested for violating military discipline

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) claimed the Pakistan Army has arrested three more ex-army officers for violating military discipline. This arrest comes in connection with the Field General Court Martial (FGCM) of former ISI chief Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hameed.

Faiz is already going through a court-martial on charges of corruption and power misuse. According to ISPR, the recent move regarding the arrest of three ex-army officers is part of a larger inquiry into their activities against military discipline.

The three retired army commanders are reportedly under investigation for their alleged involvement in actions that violated military protocol. They also triggered political unrest in the country.

ISPR revealed that further investigation is underway against the retired officers and their colleagues. It emphasized that the army is conducting more inquiries to find out the complete scope of involvement of retired officers in discipline violations.

ISPR also revealed the identities of three more arrested ex-army officers including two brigadiers and one colonel. Two offers are Brigadier Ghaffar and Brigadier Naeem with one Colonel Asim.

ISPR disclosed that three accused officers played the role of messengers between Faiz Hameed and a political party. Both brigadiers hailed from Chakwal who were considered close allies of Faiz.

The accused officers are facing accusations of engaging in political communications and facilitation even after their retirement. However, the army arrested Faiz Hameed on August 12, 2024. Now, they have started the FGCM process to deal with Faiz and his arrested allies.

The Pakistan Army also conducted a thorough inquiry into the civil Top City Case under the Supreme Court’s order to find whether accusations against Faiz were accurate. He allegedly raided the residence belonging to the owner of Top City Society and looted valuables from there.

Moreover, the army opened several cases of post-retirement violations of the Pakistan Army Act against Faiz and other officers.
