SHC slammed K-electric for excessive load-shedding in Karachi
Sindh High Court (SHC) slammed K-electric lawyer in the case of unexpected power blackouts in Jamshed Quarters on Jahangir Road. The court expressed displeasure with load-shedding in underprivileged areas.
While considering a petition relating to load-shedding, SHC’s Justice Salahuddin Panhwar instructed the K-electric lawyer to write an affidavit and testify about the extent of load-shedding- that is happening in the relevant area.
The K-electric lawyer responded to the court by saying that the company disagreed with the petitioner (lawyer) because they take on such cases and get paid for it.
However, Justice Salahuddin said this lawyer could have made much money from fees. And some people take on these kinds of cases for the public good.
The court also asked about the financial situation of the people who live in the load-shedding-affected area. The petitioner responded, saying most of them are poor to middle-class people who don’t even have air conditioners in their homes.
Justice Salahuddin remarked there is load shedding where people don’t even have an AC and have nothing to eat. Meanwhile, he also addressed the prosecutor, saying European countries give money for plantations. They spend money to put trees on massive land there.
