Senior Army Officer kidnapped from Dera Ismail Khan with two brothers
Unknown men kidnapped a senior Army Officer with his two brothers from Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on August 28, 2024. It is believed that suspected terrorists kidnapped them.
Their kidnapping happened when three brothers were gathering with other people for the funeral prayer of their father in Dera Ismail Khan district.
One of the brothers serves in the Cantonment Board Head Office in Rawalpindi while the other two work in the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
They were receiving condolences from people for the passing of their father at a mosque in Mohalla Khadr Khel, Kalachi tehsil. Meanwhile, suspected terrorists invaded and forcibly kidnapped them.
Previously, three officers had traveled to their ancestral area to attend their father’s funeral prayer on August 27, 2024. The identity of the kidnapped brothers is unknown.
However, Kulachi police confirmed unknown men kidnapped a senior army officer with his two brothers from Dera Ismail Khan, but higher-ranking police officials neither acknowledged nor denied this incident.
In a separate incident, armed suspects hijacked the van of a private security company on August 1, 2024. The van carried PKR 40 million in the Kulachi area surrounding Hathala Police Station.
Later, the suspects freed hostages including guards and the driver among other crew members, and set the van on fire. However, they eventually escaped with massive money.
In another incident, gunmen kidnapped Shakir Ullah Marwat, the District and Sessions Judge for South Waziristan, on April 27, 2024, from Tank Road, Dera Ismail Khan. However, he returned home safely after the successful operation of Dera Ismail Khan CTD (Counter Terrorism Department).
Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had ordered CTD to recover him safely. The action came after Shakir sent a video demanding the government to fulfill the demands of the Taliban.
Shakir appeared to say in a video Taliban kidnapped him and kept him in a jungle. His life is in threat. Hence, he requested the government to fulfill Taliban demands in exchange for his safe return.
