Punjab launched Himmat Card for disabled people to provide funds
The government of Punjab launched the Himmat Card for disabled people to help them financially by providing funds. This initiative will give each cardholder PKR 10,500 every three months.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif approved this initiative. She also signed an agreement between the Department of Social Welfare and the Bank of Punjab for the Himmat Card initiative.
Hence, 65,000 disabled people from the province of Punjab will receive ATM cards from Punjab Bank to get financial funds. The Himmat Card will be distributed in two phases:
- 40,000 disabled people will receive Himmar Card in the first phase
- More 25,000 will be covered in the second phase
Eligibility Criteria for Himmat Card
Payments will be made to those who will be verified. The verification process will start in mid-September. People with disabilities (PWD) must fulfill the following requirements to obtain a Himmat Card:
- The Social Welfare Department of Punjab must certify them.
- Must be physically unfit for work.
- Shouldn’t be working anywhere else currently.
- Must not recently receive funding from organizations including PSPA, BISP, Zakat Fund, Bait ul Maal, or others.
- PMT (Poverty Means Testing) score from BISP (Benazir Income Support Program) should not exceed 37.
- The basic information including CNIC, address, cellphone number, education, and experience should also be updated in DPMIS (Disabled Persons Management Information System).

How to apply for a Himmat Card
Eligible people can apply at the Social Welfare Portal at https://swd.punjab.gov.pk/himmatcard where they can verify themselves.
However, the Punjab government launched the Himmat Card project to provide financial assistance to disabled people to improve their living standards.
The government is also ensuring thousands of Punajbi citizens with disabilities will have basic resources to meet their needs.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif approved the Himmat Card initiative while emphasizing her commitment to helping needy people under this program.
