Mastermind of Karachi Police Office attack killed in CTD Operation
CTD (Counter Terrorism Department) killed Omar Farooq, the mastermind of the attack on the Karachi Police Office (KPO). The terror attack on KPO happened in February 2023.
CTD team under the direction of Mochko Police Station carried out the operation last night near Northern Bypass in Mochko. It conducted a raid at the Hanifa mosque after receiving information about suspected terrorist activity in the nearby area.
The Sindh Home Department had earlier issued a threat alert regarding the presence of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists in the province. TTP is a militant organization in Pakistan.
When CTD officials encountered him in Mochko, Karachi he was setting up a terrorist network. However, when the CTD team raided a suspected area, terrorist Omar started shooting at the cops in an attempt to escape capture.
Following this, CTD officials retaliated and fired gunshots, and an intense gunfight exchange happened between them. As a result, one gunshot hit a police officer but he remained unharmed as it went through his bulletproof jacket.
On the other hand, the mastermind behind the Karachi Police Office attack, Omar fell and was killed in a successful CTD operation.
Afterward, CTD officials also seized a 9mm pistol from Omar Farooq. They shifted the injured terrorist to a Civil Hospital but he died due to severe blood loss during the gunfight exchange.
Following the demise of Omar, DIG CTD Asif Ijaz arrived at Civil Hospital with other officials. They identified terrorist Omar Farooq, as Faridullah or Dr. Omar.
Omar was a wanted man as he was responsible for a bombing in Abbas Town and an attack on the Karachi Police Office. CTD also revealed dead terrorist Omar had involvement in multiple terrorist cases.
According to CTD, he was also affiliated with the banned TTP. He had also faced imprisonment for his involvement in 10 terrorism cases. Later, he was freed and escaped to Afghanistan.
Law enforcement officials also filed several cases against him in police stations. It included Memon Town, Sachal, CTD, Ittehad Town, Surjani Town, and Gulshan-e-Memar.
