Maryam Nawaz launched School Nutrition Program to provide free milk
Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz has launched the “School Nutrition Program” to provide free milk to primary schoolchildren. This program aims to fight malnutrition in schoolchildren.
The inauguration ceremony happened in Dera Ghazi Khan today. CM Maryam emphasized her commitment to the welfare of children across the Punjab.
Maryam stated it does not matter how far Dera Ghazi Khan (DG) from Lahore is. She is not distant from them. She thinks of all provincial children as a mother does. All these children are VIPs to her.
Moreover, she expressed shock that the children of DG Khan knew her already as she did not think they would have known her. She also cherished the love she received from children while calling it “indescribable.”
Maryam Nawaz launched the School Nutrition Program from Dera Ghazi Khan to provide free nutritious milk to students up to fifth grade. It will help them fight nutritional deficiencies. The Punjab government will distribute milk packs to primary school students.
CM Maryam explained the idea of the School Nutrition Program to her after knowing that some students were fainting during classes due to a lack of proper nutrition.
However, she also mentioned existing challenges in the largest populous province Punjab. She stated she has thousands of schools under her government where millions of children are enrolled.

According to her, Pakistan is not a wealthy country. Its resources are limited but she hopefully said better times are coming. She will do everything she can to fulfill the nutritional needs of Punjab schoolchildren.
Earlier, Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz upgraded the diet menu for provincial prisoners with chicken dishes including Karahi, Pulao, Qorma, and more. She took this initiative in July 2024.
Inspector General (IG) Jails Mian Farooq Nazir stated they would serve the chicken dishes seven times a week to prisoners following CM’s order.
