Man fired at fiancee’s house for marriage cancellation, killed mother
A man named Farooq fired at his fiancee’s house which resulted in the death of her mother and seriously injured sister in Gujrawalana. Farooq opened fire on them in retaliation for the cancelation of their marriage.
The tragic incident happened in the Ferozwala area of Gujranwala. The deceased mother and injured daughter were sent to a local hospital. However, the culprit escaped the crime scene.
The suspect Farooq was engaged to the daughter of his maternal uncle two years ago. When the family denied the marriage proposal of young man Farooq, he deliberately fired at her fiancee’s house.
The girl had recently engaged to become someone else. According to police, the girl worked as a vaccination for the government health department and her mother was a lady health worker. Police stated the suspect opened fire after knowing that his ex-fiancee was planning to marry another guy after Eid ul Fitr.
In a separate incident, a man named Umer threw acid on a woman for refusing his marriage proposal in January 2024. This incident happened in the Shahdra area of Lahore.
Umer wanted to marry the victim woman Ayesha against her will. Umer was riding a bike with his friend when he attacked Ayesha with acid on the day of the incident. As a result, she sustained severe injuries and was brunt badly.

Ayesha is a teacher by profession. Umer targeted her when she was going to school for her duty. After the incident, police attended crime scene and recorded statements from the family members of victim Ayesha to ensure justice.
After some days, Police arrested him from Sialkot Airport when he tried to escape abroad. The violent attacks against women have increased in Pakistan. Hence, it has emerged as one of the main social issues of society.
The Pakistani government has brought and implemented several laws for the protection of women. However, these incidents are still increasing.
