Lieutenant General Akhtar Nawaz Satti appointed FPSC chairman
The Federal Government of Pakistan has appointed Lieutenant General Akhtar Nawaz Satti as FPSC chairman. FPSC refers to the Federal Public Service Commission.
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari has approved Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recommendation for this appointment. The Establishment Division has released a notification about it.
Before the appointment of Lt. General Akhtar Nawaz Satti, meetings of the Central Selection Board have been postponed since August 2023 due to the vacant position of FSPC chairmanship.
Lt. General Akhtar Nawaz Satti is recently in charge of II Corps, the Pakistan Army’s field corps. Its headquarters is located at Multan Cantonment, Punjab, Pakistan.
It is one of ten field corps units in the Pakistani military that made appointments against the Indian Army in 1971 to enforce national defenses in western Pakistan while fighting in the east.
The Federal Public Service Commission has also confirmed that the federal government has appointed Lieutenant General Akhtar Nawaz Satti FPSC chairman for three years.
However, many Pakistanis have not considered this appointment fair in civil institutions. One of them is journalist Asad Ali Toor. He expressed sarcasm saying no military general will sit home and stay jobless.
PTI activist Wajahat Sami stated the fake federal government of Form 47 appointed Lt. General Akhtar Nawaz Satti as FPSC chairman. He is retiring after two months in November but the government has granted him a Grade-21 post in advance.
It is significant to note that this criticism came after the appointment of several other military personnel to multiple high-grade posts in civil institutions.
Lt. General Munir Afsar is already serving as chairman of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). The Caretaker Federal Government appointed him for a three-year term on October 2, 2023.
Apart from him, Major General (retd) Hafeezur Rehman is serving as chairman of PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority). The current federal government appointed him.
