Khawaja Asif alleged ex-army chief Bajwa of threatening him
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif alleged ex-army chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa of threatening him. He claimed it while giving an interview with Shahzeb Khanzada on Geo News.
Anchor Shazeb questioned Khawaja Asif if General Bajwa had previously threatened him. Asif acknowledged it and replied yes. Khawaja Asif alleged that ex-army chief Bajwa threatened him. Bajwa allegedly claimed to conduct a press conference against him, to which Khawja replied, do it.
The issue came during a conversation in which the minister expressed his opinion on his demand to call the ex-army chief Bajwa and spymaster Faiz Hamid to the National Assembly. He made this demand to question them about their policy of allowing the Taliban to return.
Asif said that he did not offend anyone by summoning the ex-generals for a briefing on the previous government’s policies. Two or three years ago, someone told us that allowing the Taliban to return to Pakistan would signal the beginning of a new era of peace and unity.
They presented us with a rosy picture, but considering what is happening in the country, it’s clear that the reality is quite different.
However, the minister denied getting any direction from the party on this matter. He also stated no one should get offended by his demand. He said if someone is hurt, he would tell them to let it go.

Meanwhile, Law Minister Nazir Tarar said the government cannot call former military officers into Parliament. This is because only elected members have access to the Parliament floor.
Nazir revealed it during an interview with Geo News’ Capital Talk. He also said standing committees in Pakistan’s Senate could summon to appear before them.
Qamar Javed Bajwa was Pakistan’s tenth chief of army staff from November 29, 2016, to November 29, 2022. In 2018, Forbes put him at number 68 on their list of the World’s Most Powerful People.
Ex-chief Bajwa had accusations of blatant intervention in political affairs during his tenure. He has allegations of disqualifying former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and dethroning the government of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
