A Karachi man named Adnan sued K-electric for PKR 2 crore after his 54-year-old father Taj Muhammad Khan died allegedly due to massive loadshedding. He submitted this lawsuit to the Senior Civil Judge’s court through his lawyer Usman Farooq.

Adnan claimed the incompetency of the power-distributing company K-Electric (KE) became the reason for his father’s death. He emphasized that the Sindh High Court (SHC) ordered KE to provide a load-shedding plan.

However, KE failed to provide a load-shedding plan. According to Adnan, the temperature on those days felt like 54 degrees Celcius. It increased the risk of severe health conditions for residents like his father.

Adnan also emphasized that his family filed several complaints to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority to investigate KE’s conduct and its failure to prevent extended massive load-shedding.

He claimed the sudden and tragic death of his father caused great emotional distress in his family. They are suffering from great psychological and emotional trauma.

Adnan claimed that his father died only due to the negligence of KE who failed to provide continuous power supply during lethal heat weather.

He disclosed that his father’s sudden death has also resulted in loss of financial support in addition to emotional loss. Hence, he demanded the court to order KE to compensate his financial damages by paying 2 crore rupees due to its negligence.

Petitioner’s lawyer Usman Farooq stated that the power company has not provided effective customer service. Following this, Karachi man Adnan sued K-Electric for PKR 2 crore under the Fatal Accidents Act, of 1855.
