ISI allegedly handed over Dr. Aafia Siddique to United States

Pakistani Intelligence Agency ISI allegedly handed over Dr. Aafia Siddique and her children to the United States. This claim came when Dr. Aafia’s lawyer, Mr. Smith submitted his affidavit in Islamabad High Court (IHC) on August 26, 2024.

Following this, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) demanded a detailed report from the Foreign Ministry on handing Dr. Aafia Siddique to the US.

The court also ordered the Ministry to submit answers to two questions. It asked whether ISI had any evidence against Dr. Aafia. Another question is whether ISI had a mandate to hand over Dr. Aafia and her children to a third party. IHC Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq began hearing this case.

Barrister Zainab Janjua, Additional Attorney General (AAG), and lawyer Imran Shafiq, representative of Dr. Aafia’s family attended the court hearing.

Meanwhile, Dr. Aafia’s sister Dr. Fouzia Siddique also made a court appearance through a video link. Mr. Smith filed his affidavit with the court at the beginning of the hearing. An affidavit is an official statement confirmed by oath and used as evidence in court.

According to this affidavit, the Sindh government gave Dr. Aafia Siddique and her children’s custody in 2003 to ISI which then allegedly handed over them to the United States.
