Imran Khan refused to meet FIA team over controversial tweet
Former Prime Minister Imran Khan refused to meet with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) cybercrime team regarding a controversial tweet investigation. He reportedly declined to respond to any inquiries from the FIA’s team.
Imran Khan stated he would answer any question in the presence of his lawyers. According to Adiala Jail sources, Imran Khan gave this response in a written message to the investigative team of FIA.
This development comes after FIA’s cybercrime department decided to take action against Imran Khan due to his controversial social media post.
The official social media account of Imran Khan published the tweet on May 26, 2024. It stated every Pakistani should study the Hamood ur Rehman Commission Report. It will reveal the true traitor was either General Yahya or Sheikh Majibur Rahman.
Hamood ur Rehman Commission Report contains official Pakistani government records and events. That led to the separation of East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) and the 1971 war.
Sheikh Majibur Rahman was the leader of East Pakistan who led the separatist movement. However, General Yahya was then army chief of the Pakistan Army.

However, PTI chairman Barrister Gohar said Imran Khan was not aware of the text of his posts published to his social media accounts. He defended his tweet, claiming authorities misinterpreted it.
Gohar said the context and comparison they drew with 1971 was in a political context and it was not about the army. Meanwhile, other PTI leaders also defended the tweet. They also claimed that the events of the 1971 war were just brought up as a reminder. So that people may learn lessons from history.
The Investigative Cybercrime team of FIA reached Adiala Jail on May 30, 2024 night, when Imran Khan refused to meet them. However, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed displeasure at the controversial post on Imran Khan’s account. He said this post revealed the actual face of Imran Khan to the nation for the first time.
