Imran Khan named Sahibzada Hamid as PAC Chairman amid PTI conflicts
PTI founder Imran Khan named Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) leader Sahibzada Hamid as Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairman. Sources claim that Imran Khan previously proposed the name of PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat for the chairmanship.
However, Imran Khan nominated Sahibzada Hamid after consulting with senior leadership of PTI. PTI General Secretary Omar Ayub reportedly gave instructions in this regard.
It is crucial to note the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is essential to maintain accountability and transparency in public sector organizations, ministries, and divisions. Pakistan’s first PAC was founded on May 20, 1948.
This decision in which Imran Khan named Sahibzada Hamid as PAC chairman did not go well with PTI. It has brought up inner-going conflicts as Sher Afzal Marwat revealed some PTI leaders did not want him to become PAC chairman.
According to Sher Afzal Marwat, those particular PTI leaders convinced Imran Khan to propose an alternative name for PAC instead of his name. He revealed it while talking to a media reporter.
But Imran Khan stood firm against pressure and initially proposed the name of Sher Afzal Marwat. Imran Khan emphasized that the opposition needed to nominate the PAC chairman.

However, PTI leaders convinced Imran Khan by giving reasons that the PML-N or the speaker regarding the name of Sher Afzal Marwat would not accept as PAC chairman.
Hence, Sher Afzal Marwat expressed concern that such statements and behavior of some PTI leaders are reducing their respect. Meanwhile, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan advised Sher Afzal Marwat to avoid giving statements regarding PTI leaders in the media. Gohar is the chairman of PTI.
Gohar emphasized that he has instructed Sher Afzal not to use words that may trigger internal conflict among party ranks. He expressed it while talking to a media reporter.
When a reporter asked about the possibility of issuing a show-cause notice to Sher Afzal, Gohar responded PTI is not a king’s party. They hold extensive meetings to discuss matters and never go against their party members.
