Gwadar protest killed three & Injured several Baloch in clash with army
Baloch people clashed with security forces in the Gwadar protest which resulted in at least three casualties and eight injuries. Participants in Balochistan Yakjehti Committee (BYC) organized this protest which turned violent on July 28, 2024.
This protest was in the aftermath of the alleged enforced disappearance of Baloch people by Pakistan security forces or intelligence agencies. Protestors also demanded basic rights and the utilization of provincial resources for the betterment of their community.
However, violence emerged in the protest movement of Baloch people when they started moving to Marine Drive of Gwadar despite the warning of authorities.
Many protestors from Balochistan came and gathered there for Baloch Rajee Muchi (Baloch National Gathering). Meanwhile, a fatal clash broke out after army soldiers used tear gas to scatter the crowd on Marine Drive.
This resulted in the death of one person and injuries of eight people. Security forces also arrested twenty Baloch people from there.
Moreover, two more deaths and several people sustained injuries reportedly after security forces stopped a convoy of Balochs at the Talar checkpoint. According to officials, troops defended themselves against an alleged mod attack on the checkpost.
However, BYC leader Dr. Maharang Baloch and other Baloch activists vowed to continue their fight for the rights of the Baloch people and the preservation of the province’s resources.
Dr. Mahrang passed this statement while addressing a gathering in Gwadar. She also demanded Balochistan people’s killers be brought to justice. She referred it to dead protestors who arrived in Gwadar to attend the gathering only.

Health officials in Gwadar verified the death toll. They claimed to receive three dead bodies and eight injured people. They sent two injured people to Turbat for medical treatment.
Balochistan Government spokesperson Shahid Rind and Home Minister Ziaullah Langove could not comment on this event. This was likely due to a communications blackout.
It is significant to note that provincial authorities have suspended all communication sources including the internet to maintain peace and order.
