Govt to launch free Pink bus service for female students in Islamabad
The Federal Govt has decided to launch a free Pink bus service for female students and teachers to facilitate transportation in Islamabad. The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has made this decision for female students and teachers of Capital Territory Schools.
The Ministry will provide 20 buses under this service to educational institutes. These buses will operate in urban and rural districts of Islamabad with the help of the district government.
Female students and teachers from private and government educational institutes will get the free transportation facility. The government will paint these buses pink as it is only for ladies and girls. Hence, female students and teachers will easily recognize by their clear pink color.
Federal Secretary of Education Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani stated that the Ministry of Education has taken this action. It comes in response to the rising number of female students leaving school early due to poor transportation options. Mohyuddin said it while talking to the media.
He also said an internal audit showed thirty percent of 385 buses were parked because they were unusable. Federal educational institutions owned these buses. Their unusability was due to a lack of money, drivers, or timely repairs.

Before the federal government’s initiative, the Sindh government had already launched free-cost Pink bus services for females in Karachi over the past month. Female passengers have a permit to travel in Pink buses for free for about two months.
Pink Bus Service provides services on several routes, including PAF Base Faisal, Laal Kothi, Karsaz, and Nursery. Other routes include FTC, Regent Plaza, JPMC, Cant Station, Metropole, Regal Chowk, and Aram Bagh.
