Glacier fall destroyed several homes and hotels in Naran
A heavy fall down of a glacier has destroyed several homes and hotels in the popular tourist resort Naran, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The glacier fall has caused widespread devastation with several hotels and homes destroyed after being buried beneath snow.
According to the details, the event occurred on the highway connecting Naran to Saif-ul-Muluk Lake. Authorities have completely closed the Kaghan Highway.
The Kaghan Development Authority (KDA) officials stated avalanche (glacier fall) buried multiple hotels and homes under an avalanche caused by an outburst of the Ghamla and Chapran glaciers on Jheel Road in Naran.
However, KDA officials said they are facing difficulties, in gathering verified data on total loss and damage. They have formed a team to assess the damage. They would seek guidance from the local people of Naran who are well aware of these events.
Muhammad Shabbir Khan, DG of the KDA, emphasized a firm commitment to providing full support to the victims in Naran. He stated they would take immediate steps upon road clearance to help rehabilitate impacted people.
Shabbir informed the media that they closed construction on Jheel Road of Naran due to an avalanche. They will reopen it once they restore Naran town.
Furthermore, he said they would help the citizens of Naran in every possible manner. He also expressed concern that people should avoid construction in areas impacted by glaciers.
Aminul Hasan Khan is the Deputy Director of the Kaghan Development Authority. He stated there are reports of dozens of hotels and houses being damaged in Naran.

Furthermore, he said they are gathering early information in coordination with the Tehsil Administration and Finance Department to assess the damage due to the glacier outburst.
Naran in the upper Kaghan Valley is a famous tourist attraction for local and international tourists. People from Pakistan mostly visit this area during Summer.
However, Naran due to its extreme cold and road closures by snowfall becomes mostly vacant throughout winter. The road to Naran remains closed in multiple spots due to avalanches usually.
