German tourist Berg Florian robbed near airport in Lahore
A 27-year-old German tourist named Berg Florian was robbed near Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore. Lahore Police confirmed this robbery incident.
Berg came to Pakistan by traveling on his bicycle. He was sleeping while camping on a road close to the airport when a condemnable robbery incident happened.
Heartbroken Berg appeared to cry in a video when he reported this incident to the police. He revealed two armed men attacked and tortured him. They also took his camera, cash, and cell phone, all worth PKR 500,000, and then left the crime scene.
According to Cantt Owais Shafiq, Superintendent of Police (SP), they have immediately started an investigation following the complaint of robbed German tourist Berg Florian.
They have recently searched the Allama Iqbal International Airport and the surrounding areas to hold the responsible culprits. SP Owais Shafiq also stated that CCTV footage and other evidence would help the police in tracking down the robbers
The Cantt police have also filed an FIR against robbers under PPC Section 382 (stealing after death threat, hurt, to conduct the crime). Berg stated in FIR that he was visiting Pakistan on his bicycle. He set up his tent on a meadow piece near the street at night from August 2 to August 3, 2024.
Two armed men approached him at 1:30 a.m. and just said “Cash.” When a German tourist replied, he was out of cash, the robbers began searching his luggage.
According to Berg, his backpack was present inside the tent. It contained priceless electronics like a camera and cash. Afterward, they saw the bag they wanted to have; so he tried to escape and run away.
Meanwhile, one of the robbers grabbed him as he attempted to escape and punched him. He also placed his hands on Berg’s throat for a minute.
When he forcibly dropped the backpack, the suspects stole his power bank, iPhone ($500), AirPods ($3,000), camera ($2,000), and cash (PKR 500,000).
Berg arrived in Pakistan on a 30-day visit visa with an expiry date of September 11, 2024. He expressed disappointment at this incident.
