Former journalist Syed Abdullah Hassan died in Karachi at 40
A former journalist and Aaj TV anchor Syed Abdullah Hassan died in Karachi in a car accident late at night on Sharea Faisal. According to South Syed Asad Raza, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) anchor Abdullah hit a walkway near a traffic signal while he was driving his car.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) South Sajid Sadozal stated car’s front end sustained significant damage due to an overspeed car.
Meanwhile, Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon expressed deep condolences to the deceased’s family. The Sindh government claims Minister Sharjeel also visited Anchor’s home to console his family. He also said they will always remember the services of Syed Abdulla Hassan in the field of journalism.
Kamran Khan Tesori, the governor of Sindh, also conveyed his sorrow for the journalist’s death. He expressed his condolences to the victim’s family. He prayed “May Allah grant Abdullah high rank in heaven and forgiveness and his family find patience.”
On the other hand, Pakistan People’s Party Central Spokesperson Shazia Mari also expressed deep grief and regret that former journalist Syed Abdullah Hassan died. She stated she is in solidarity with the victim’s family in this difficult and sorrowful time.

Apart from anchor Syed Abdullah, another former journalist Asad Abbas Zaidi died in a road accident in July 2024 at the Baloch Colony flyover in Karachi.
This fatal accident happened when a fuel tank detached from a tanker and overturned Asad’s car on the flyover. It resulted in the death of journalist Asad.
According to Ahmed Nawaz Cheema, the Karachi Traffic Police (KTP) deputy inspector general (DIG) revealed the accident happened around 1:30 a.m.
He said the tank detached from a jet fuel tanker due to a mechanical fault. As a result, it hit the deceased’s car which caused his death.
