CTD arrested 10 terrorists involved in attack on Chinese Engineers
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested over 10 terrorists involved in the attack on Chinese Engineers. Arrested terrorists who were facilitators in the attack on Chinese Engineers in Bisham City, Shangla on March 26, 2024.
According to CTD, they have arrested more than 10 terrorists including their commander involved in the Shangla attack. The arrested commander brought a suicide bomber to Pakistan from Afghanistan. He also brought four other facilitators to Pakistan.
According to authorities, they suspect Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) affiliates have involvement in the deadliest Shangla attack. Terrorists targeted a car carrying five Chinese engineers and a Pakistani driver.
A suicide bomber smashed his explosives-laden vehicle into an automobile resulting in deaths. Following this incident, the civil and military officials of Pakistan condemned the attack.
The officials included Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir. They said those involved in the attack would be brought to justice.
Meanwhile, a wreath-laying ceremony took place at Nur Khan Airbase, Rawalpindi to honor the deceased. A 30-second silence was observed as the bodies of dead Chinese nationals were transported back to China.
Security forces laid floral wreaths on behalf of the President, Prime Minister, and Army Chief. Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu and Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Chairman (CJCSC), General Sahir Shamshad Mirza are also among them.
Following the attack, Chinese companies handling work at the Dasu and Diamer-Bhasha Dams temporarily stopped civil activity due to security concerns.
According to media reports, approximately 991 Chinese engineers had been working on both projects. However, Pakistani authorities instructed local staff to stay home until further instructions.
However, a Chinese investigation team arrived in Pakistan to investigate the incident. It came after China’s military declared to engage with Pakistan to improve the two nations’ capability to face various security dangers and difficulties, including terrorist acts.
