Asad Umar moved to hospital from courtroom after chest pain
Former PTI leader Asad Umar was moved from the Lahore anti-terrorism court (ATC) to a hospital on a medical emergency after experiencing chest pain. Asad Umar served as Finance Minister in the federal cabinet of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
He appeared in terrorism charges in association with the May 9 riots. His lawyers revealed that Asad Umar started experiencing irregular heartbeats and chest pain during his appearance in the courtroom.
Following this, they quickly moved Asad Umar out of the courthouse and directed him into the waiting car at the front gate to bring him to the hospital.
Several people appeared to carry Asad to the car in a video that has gone viral. PTI leader Zain Qureshi accompanied Asad as he reached the hospital for diagnostic testing and medical examination.
After receiving medical treatment, his health was reportedly stable. Medical doctors revealed that Asad experienced low blood pressure. Asad took blood pressure medicine on an empty stomach which dropped his blood pressure. His ECG test results were normal.
Previously, Asad Umar had received medical treatment at Karachi Hospital in June 2024 due to back issues. However, he has been charged with multiple offenses relating to the violence on May 9, 2023, including vandalism and a cipher case.

It is significant to note he resigned as PTI General Secretary after about two weeks of rioting on May 9, 2023. After five months, he also announced his retirement from politics and resigned from the PTI party in November 2023.
Asad was a close ally of PTI founder Imran Khan. He departed his ways with him after serving for 15 years. He also served as Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms, and Special Initiatives from 2019 to 2022.
Apart from him, several notable leaders also left PTI including Shireen Mazari, Maleeka Bokhari, Abrar ul Haq, and Usman Dar. They left the party when the government charged them with terrorism and vandalism due to the May 9 riots.
