15000 e-bikes for teachers announced by Punjab Government

The Punjab Government has announced 15000 electric e-bikes for teachers throughout the province after students. Provincial Education Minister Sikandar Hayat told at a news conference that they will distribute e-bikes in two phases.

According to Sikandar Hayat, the main reason for distributing 15000 e-bikes to teachers is high petrol prices in the country. Hence, they launched this scheme to tackle the financial challenges for teachers due to rising petrol prices. Teachers will have the facility to travel to educational institutions easily after getting electric bikes under this scheme.

Sikandar Hayat said 5,000 teachers will get e-bikes under this scheme in the first phase while 10,000 teachers will get e-bikes in the second phase.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz approved this scheme at her third cabinet meeting in Lahore to provide flexible payment plans.

She stated electric bikes are necessary for reducing pollution in the province. The down payment will be reduced to Rs 25000 and the monthly installment will also be less than Rs 5000 to lessen the student’s burden.

She also announced that high scorer students will receive bikes through a different program. The decision to provide student loans for bikes was also taken in response to a request from Nawaz Sharif. Nawaz Sharif is a leader of the ruling party Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) and three times former Prime Minister of Pakistan.
