Victorian MP Will Fowles arrested over sexual assault
Victorian MP Will Fowles was arrested as part of a police investigation over alleged sexual assault today. A woman has accused him of sexually assaulting her.
Will Fowles is an Australian politician and member of the Australian political party Labor as well as the Victorian Legislative Assembly.
As a result of the allegation, Victorian police arrested and Interviewed over the matter of serious assault. After this, the Labor Party asked him to forcefully resign and he was thrown out of the parliamentary Labor Party.
Sexual Crimes Squad of Victoria Police arrested and interviewed the ousted Labor MP. The woman who accused him of sexual assault is a government employee. She made a serious allegation against him in Aug 2023. While Will has denied the allegations of the woman during the police investigation.
Detectives from Sexual Crimes executed a warrant at his Ringwood address on Oct 12, 2023, as part of an ongoing investigation into an incident in Melbourne. So, they arrested Will Fowles today at Ringwood by the squad and interviewed him. But they released him without any charge as further inquiries are pending. Victoria Police spokesperson confirmed it.
The spokesperson said they will not further comment on the matter as the investigation is still ongoing and the matter is of sensitive nature.
It is important to mention that the allegations against Mr. Will are relevant to an incident that happened at the Melbourne CBD hotel. He had been drinking at the bar in Parliament before going to the hotel.
The Victorian state premier Daniel Andrews sought and received the resignation of Will Fowles from the parliamentary Labor Party when Daniel received information from a female government employee about an alleged serious assault on him.
