UK General Elections 2024: Labor party won ending 14 years Conservative rule
The Labour Party has officially won the UK General Elections 2024, and Keir Starmer will most likely become prime minister. According to recent British media reports, the Labour Party has won majority seats by securing 410 out of 650 seats in the UK Parliament.
Following the clear majority results of Labour, its chief rival and former prime minister Rishi Sunak (Conservative) has admitted his defeat. He stated the people of Britain gave a significant verdict and acknowledged the public-elected Labour Party.
The upcoming Prime Minister Keir Starmer has won his seat in Holborn and St Pancras in London with 18,884 votes. It is significant to note that he has faced severe criticism from British Muslims over his staunch support for Israel since the Hamas attack on October 7, 2024.
However, he managed to win his seat, leaving behind pro-Palestinian activist Andrew Feinstein in second place. Andrew, the independent candidate, won 11,572 votes.
Keir Starmer also expressed his views while celebrating a massive historic win in elections. He claimed to end the chaos in the country.
According to Keir, his party claimed to turn the page, and they have. He emphasized the work of change has begun today for the British people.
Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau congratulated Keir Starmer on the historic election win. He said there lies a lot of work ahead of them to build a prosperous future for people on both sides of the Atlantic.
This win is a major blow to the biggest and former ruling political party (Conservative). It has ended 14 years of long-term continuous ruling of Conservatives. It secured only 118 seats in the UK Parliament out of 650 seats in the General Elections 2024.
Surprisingly, several senior Conservative leaders lost seats, including influential political figure Liz Truss. Liz has also served as the former prime minister of the UK.
However, this victory will come with huge challenges for Keir Starmer as he faces a troubling backdrop of the economy and a deteriorating social fabric. Moreover, the UK public has expressed great disbelief in government institutions.
