Solingen stabbing: Three killed in attack at Germany festival

Three children were killed in a mass stabbing at a festival in the western city of Solingen, Germany. A suspect stabbed nine Germans. Police are now investigating for an unidentified suspect.

According to police, five of eight injured people were considered critical when hundreds of people gathered in a central area. They were celebrating commemorating Solingen’s 650th anniversary.

There were two men and one lady among the dead. Police in the surrounding area of Dusseldorf stated that many officers were looking for offenders. They are now questioning both victims and witnesses.

Authorities stated an unidentified man attacked several people with a knife at approximately 9:40 p.m. on August 23, 2024. The stabbing incident happened at the Festival of Diversity in Solingen, which is most populous state of Germany, North Rhine-Westphalia, and borders the Netherlands.

Live music, cabaret, and acrobatics were among the attractions offered on many stages located in the central streets during the events scheduled until August 25, 2024. Solingen has a population of roughly 160,000 and is close to the larger cities of Dusseldorf and Cologne.

Meanwhile, the interior minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, Herbert Reul arrived at the crime scene early today. He stated this was a targeted attack on human life, but he declined to comment on the suspect’s motive to commit this horrible fatal stabbing.
