Senator Seriake Dickson alleged Abuja VIPs for oil theft in Delta

Senator Seriake Dickson alleged Abuja and Lagos VIPs for oil theft in the Niger Delta state of Nigeria. He claimed that some very high-profile individuals (VIPs) from Lagos and Abuja are responsible for oil theft in Niger Delta.

Seriake revealed it while giving an interview to Channels Television. He has been two-term governor of Bayelsa State. He stated the official government and oil companies benefit from oil theft in Niger Delta.

According to Seriake, there is a lack of national principles in Nigeria. It leads people to use the nation’s riches for personal benefit.

Senator Seriake Dickson alleged VIPs in Abuja and Lagos are masterminds and the official system is not ignorant or innocent. It includes official security, oil, and governmental systems, in their entirety.

Seriake also questioned why should not a country like Nigeria, which has been producing and exporting oil for the past 70 years has a systematic method of measuring and recording what leaves, what is pumped, what is sold, and what is not sold. It is deliberate.

He emphasized that it is not a Niger Delta thing: it is just happening there. Unfortunately, it has destroyed communities. Hence, there is too much illegal money, illegal arms, and drugs.

It has fueled cults because people want to gain the loyalty of young people to hold territories where oil facilities are located. They need firearms and young males who are constantly high on narcotics.

Furthermore, Seriake said do you think it is normal for a guy to slaughter, chop off, and dismember another man’s head. So, they are people who are actively using narcotics.

He said there is a need to develop a worldwide consensus so the international community rejects stolen crude oil from Nigeria. He urged the government to demonstrate strong political resolve to prevent oil theft at all levels.

However, the oil theft crisis has existed in Nigeria for years with large amounts of oil being lifted by the oil sector without being accounted for.
