NSW Police officer Kristian White charged with manslaughter
Police Officer Kristian White of New South Wales (NSW) has been charged with manslaughter over the taser death of Clare Nowland at the nursing home.
The Cooma Court has upgraded the charges to manslaughter against Kristian. Kristian is suspected of fatally tasering a 95-year-old woman in a remote New South Wales nursing home.
Clare Nowland who suffered from dementia died on May 24 in Cooma Hospital. A week before, Senior Constable Kristian had tasered her at the Yallambee Lodge nursing home.
According to New South Wales Police (NSWP), the Director of Public Prosecutions advised to upgrade the charges against Kristian. NSWP has increased charges against Kristian due to willfully causing bodily harm, assault causing actual bodily harm, and common assault. Before these charges, NSWP had already suspended Kristian.

The incident dates back to May 19, 2023. When nursing staff found Clare Nowland holding two knives at sharp 3 a.m. in the morning. The nurse contacted NSWP to handle her because she was not willing to hand over knives to them.
Senior Constable Kristian Constable with a female sergeant reached the hospital at 5:00 a.m. They approached Clare holding knives in the treatment room with paramedics.
They asked her to place the knife on the desk. But she moved towards officers. And raised her right hand holding a knife toward the female sergeant which caused Kristian to taser her.
