Kano Governor ordered arrest of ousted Emir Ado Bayero
The Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has ordered authorities to arrest ousted state Emir Aminu Ado Bayero. Sanusi Tofa released a statement carrying this order of Alhaji Abbas.
This statement was titled “Gov. Yusuf Orders Arrest of Deposed Emir of Kano Aminu Ado Bayero.” Sanusi is the Director General of Media and Publicity at Government House in Kano.
This arrest order came two days after the Governor ousted Emir Aminu Ado from office. However, the former Emir attempted to re-enter the palace by force last night into Kano City. This order came around 7 a.m.
He arrived in Kano in the early hours today under full military cover to dethrone new Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. Sanusi Lamido also arrived at the palace accompanied by the governor, deputy governor, Speaker of the state House of Assembly, and other government officials at 1 a.m.
Hence, Governor Alhaji had appointed Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi after removing Aminu Ado. Meanwhile, he has ordered the Commissioner of Police to arrest Aminu Ado immediately for inciting public unrest and seeking to undermine the state peace.

According to Governor Alhaji, Emir Ado should be in custody for causing instability in the state. Hence, the Kano Governor has ordered the sudden arrest of ousted Emir Ado Bayero.
This political unrest came with the decision of Governor Aljaji to re-appoint Sanusi Lamido as Emir of Kano state. During his 2023 campaign, he vowed to bring Sanusi back to his claimed throne of Emir for Kano State. Nigerian authorities dethroned Sanusi Lamido in 2020 for opposing their decisions. It seems a long-running dispute among political rivals.
As the political crisis develops, everyone is watching closely Kano State to see how authorities would handle the arrest and the subsequent legal proceedings. However, these actions will affect the social and political fabric of the state.
