The government has announced a heavy fine of 800 dirhams and four black points on the license of traffic offenders. The UAE government took this strict step because of the loss of six lives in 99 accident cases over the past eight months.
The police recorded about 35,527 cases of traffic violations during this time period. The director of the General Department of Traffic, Major-General Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, said unfortunately some only learn when tragedy strikes, Khaleej Times reported.
