Police summoned BTS member Suga in DUI scandal

According to South Korean media, police summoned famous music band BTS member Suga in connection with the DUI scandal investigation. Suga’s real name is Min Yoon-gi.

Suga is a 31-year-old rapper against whom law enforcement officials confirmed they are working with Suga’s team to continue with the inquiry. This inquiry comes in the aftermath of the DUI incident on August 6, 2024.

This incident came to light when Suga reportedly fell off his electric scooter which he was riding near his house in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu. However, when a police officer initially came to him at the accident place to help him, he found him under the influence of alcohol.

When a police officer suspected alcohol on his breath, he sent Suga for an examination. Suga underwent a breathalyzer test which showed alcohol content in his breath was 0.227%.

It was significantly above the legal content which led to his DUI charges. DUI charges refer to the offense of operating, riding, or being in control of a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Apart from alcohol, he also did not qualify as PMD (personal mobility device). PMD refers to vehicles with a maximum speed of 25km/h and a weight under 30 kg.
