Mumbai police arrested Bigg Boss winner Munawar Faruqui

Mumbai police arrested Bigg Boss winner and Indian comedian Munawar Faruqui during a raid on a hookah parlour in Mumbai’s Fort district. The arrest came on March 26, 2024 night during a police raid.

The Social Service of Mumbai police arrested 13 others with Bigg Boss winner Munawar Faruqui. They conducted a raid at a hookah parlour in Bora Bazar at 10:30 p.m. Their operation continued until 5 a.m. morning on March 27, 2024.

Mumbai police conducted a raid after they received information that certain consumers were smoking tobacco-based hookahs at the parlour under the disguise of smoking herbal hookahs.

They filed a case against all of the suspects including Munawar Faruqui. Police charged Munawar and his co-accused under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) and sections 283 and 336 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

A senior police officer told the Indian news agency PTI that they found Munawar and others smoking hookah at the parlour. They also have a video of their act. Soon after, they conducted a raid following a tip-off.

Hence, they arrested Munawar Faruqui and thirteen people due to the above sections imposed on them. However, they eventually released them because imposed sections on them were bailable.

Meanwhile, Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Marg police who arrested them issued notices and allowed them to go. Famous Munawar Faruqui did not comment on this matter after his release.

Instead, Munawar shared his first post today after being released by the Mumbai Police. He shared a selfie on his Instagram stories. He smiled and posed while wearing a blue T-shirt and a cap in a selfie as he stood inside a room.

Munawar Faruqui is an Indian stand-up comedian, rapper, and singer. He won a reality TV show “Lock Upp” in 2022. He also participated in the largest Indian reality TV show “Bigg Boss” in 2023 and emerged as the winner.
