Michael Jackson’s biopic “Michael” is set for global release. Antoine Fuqua directed the biopic and Lionsgate (Motions Picture Group) is behind this project. Universal Pictures International has taken all international distribution rights of “Michael”. The nephew of Michael Jackson, Jafaar Jackson is going to play a role in the biopic.
Universal and Lionsgate made the deal and announced it on Oct 3, 2023. Lionsgate is going to handle all domestic dealings while Universal will take care of global distribution outside of Japan. Joe Drake the chairman of Lionsgate said the decades-long career of Michael Jackson has left incredible marks in the entertainment industry all over the world. He passed this statement while making the announcement.
Fuqua will direct “Michael” following the script of John Logan. Logan is an Oscar nominee. Graham King with John Branca and John McClain will produce the film. Branca and McClain are the co-executors of the Michael Jackson Estate.
A Broadway show about the life and career of Jackson will open in West London in 2024. The name of this show is MJ the Musical. The concert documentary on the Pop-of-King, Michael Jackson’s This Is It, has broken records worldwide.
Upcoming biopic details are still in the box. Screenplay writers have not cleared how will they handle the sexual behavior of Jackson. The HBO documentary Leaving Neverland in 2019, described this fact.
