Game of Thrones actor Ian Gelder died at the age of 74

Hollywood actor Ian Gelder, famous for his character Kevan Lannister in the Game of Thrones, died at the age of 74 years. He had a long career performing roles in Torchwood, His Dark Materials, Doctor, Who, Snatch, and The Bill.

The spouse and fellow actor Ben Daniels shared the news of Ian’s death. On his Instagram account, Ben Daniels shared with a heavy heart that Ian Gelder has passed away. He said his heart was broken into a million pieces to announce the death news of his friend.

Ben also described Ian Gelder as an “absolute rock” and the best actor. He also remembered him as a high-spirited, lovely, and generous person. He revealed Ian fought with chronic disease with bravery and courage.

However, Ben captioned it while sharing his picture with him at Christmas 2023. He said they captured this image when Ian was going through the worst medical treatments at that time. Moreover, Ben said his thirty-year-old partner had quit working to take care of him.

It is significant to note that Game of Thrones actor Ian Gelder died after his months-long battle with cancer on May 6, 2024. He was diagnosed with bile duct cancer five months ago.
