American legendary comedian Bob Newhart, famous for his standup comedy died at 94 at his home on July 18, 2024. His longtime publicist Jerry Digney confirmed the news of his death.

Jerry revealed he died at his home in Los Angeles after suffering from a short illness. He said Bob started his career working in Chicago as an accountant by day, as a comedy performer, and writer at night.

According to Jerry, Bob earned credit for being the first to do a stand-up performance using long stories with several funny jokes throughout instead of one joke at the end. A comedy sea change was happening around Bob.

Meanwhile, Comedy film director Judd Apatow paid tribute to Bob Newhart. He called Bob the most incredible man with brilliant comedy. According to Judd, Bob had a gentle spirit who made everyone happy he made contact with.

A co-worker of Bob’s, Kaley Cuoco also commended him. She said it was a dream to witness a genius like Bob Newhart. He was kind, generous, classy, and absolutely hilarious.

However, publicist Jerry did not reveal the exact illness due to which American legendary comedian Bob Newhart died. However, he had a long history of suffering from medical diseases.

When Bob was 79 years old, he was suffering from Parkinson’s disease. It is a chronic brain disorder that affects a person’s ability to control body movements.

However, he suffered from an intense nosebleed at 56 years age in 1985. Later, doctors diagnosed him with secondary polycythemia. It is a condition that occurs due to heavy smoking. This disease also put him at risk of stroke.

Bob recently appeared in The Bing Bang Theory and the beloved Christmas movie Elf. He went on to appear 87 times as a guest host on Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show.
