Activist Malala Yousafzai made acting debut with British Season

Social media posts stormed with mixed responses as activist Malala Yousafzai made her acting debut in the British Sitcom season “We Are Lady Parts.” She made her screen debut in a brief but interesting cameo in the second episode of this season.

The name of this episode is “Malala Made Me Do It,” which features Anjana Vasan, Lucie Shorthouse, and Juliette Motamed. Sarah Kameela, Impey, and Faith Omole also appeared in this episode.

Malala appears out of the shadows in a fantasy scene with the music playing in the background. She appeared dressing in Western and Pakistani-inspired clothing while sitting on a fictitious horse.

The showrunner Nida Manzoor told the New York Times that the director wrote Malala a letter asking her to join the show.

Activist Malala Yousafzai expressed surprise even at herself that she made her acting debut even though she had worked with Apple on a multiyear television deal in 2021. She said in her discussion with fashion magazine Vogue that she never expected to be in a show.

Malala said she is finally showing off her secret skills. She told Vogue when Nida revealed the idea for her look, she had no idea. She thought what would she look like? Does she get to talk? How many times does she need to do it?

However, when she saw the set on the day of the shooting, it was beyond anything she could have imagined. It was funny because she did not have the lines, which made things a lot easier.

According to Malala, the show’s portrayal of positive stories about Muslim girls makes it possible for fans to connect with them and relate to them. Humanizing people is so significant, especially in this time and age.
She stated dehumanizing another group is often the first step in conflicts, wars, and other forms of oppression against people. She hopes that they read more stories from people in Gaza, Afghanistan, and other places around the world.

“We Are Lady Parts,” season tells a struggle story of members of a Muslim female band named “Lady Parts” who try to make a mark in the music industry. The second episode aired on Peacock on May 30, 2024.
