PTI MNA Junaid Akbar resigned from the party’s core committee
Former ruling party Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) MNA Junaid Akbar resigned from the party’s core committee. His resignation came after senior PTI parliamentarian Omar Ayub quit as party secretary general just a day before.
Omar also hinted there would be more changes to the party’s organizational structure. Following this, the resignation of Junaid Akbar comes today.
Meanwhile, PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat had also asked PTI Senator Shibli Faraz to step down from positions including the party office and the opposition leader in the Senate.
Sher alleged senior politicians including Omar and Shibli deny him the opportunity to visit former prime minister Imran Khan in Adiala Jail.
However, PTI MNA Junaid Akbar also resigned from the party position making the same accusations against senior party members. He claimed some PTI members did not allow him to meet Imran Khan.
According to Junaid, the interests of certain party members lie with each other. They told them the current party policy aligns with Imran Khan. However, the beneficiaries of these policies are only those people, their friends, and families.
Junaid also stated that could not visit Imran Khan. He does not have any influence on the party decisions. He emphasized that PTI is his home. Moreover, he is neither a part of any party group nor will he be in the future.
Before Junaid Akbar, the resignation of Omar Ayub sparked rumors of internal conflict inside the party. However, the PTI Parliamentary Party unanimously decided yesterday to reject the resignation of Omar Ayub after Imran accepted it.
The party also wrote a letter to Imran to cancel the resignation letter of Omar and passed a resolution expressing complete trust in Omar. It also rejected the claims of growing power politics in the party.
The party members state they are all united under Imran Khan’s leadership. Hence, they reject the rumors of the so-called forward bloc inside the party. However, the recent resignation and claims of Junaid have again raised concerns about internal differences inside PTI.
