FIA arrested social activist Sarim Burney in a child trafficking case

The Anti-Human Trafficking Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested social activist Sarim Burney at Karachi airport. The arrest of Sarim happened yesterday when he arrived at the international arrival lounge of the Karachi airport from the US.

Sarim Burney is a well-renowned human rights activist and philanthropist. According to media sources, FIA arrested Sarim for his alleged involvement in severe offenses such as child trafficking.

FIA officials reported that Sarim is facing charges for allegedly trafficking 25 newborn children to the United States. They also revealed the accused activist and his Trust, “Sarim Burney Welfare-Trust,” illegally had children whom US residents adopted.

It is significant to note that Sarim established his Trust to help many poor, victim children and women. However, a legal team of social activist Sarim Burney arrived soon at the FIA office after they arrested him.

Lawyer Qadir Hussain led the legal team and remarked they came to know that FIA arrested Sarim on his return from America. Hence, they have arrived at the FIA office. However, they don’t have permission to meet him.

Qadir also stated that they would file a petition against FIA in the High Court against the arrest of Sarim. Meanwhile, the wife of Sarim, Alia, expressed shock and disbelief over the arrest of her husband.

According to Alia, Sarim has been doing this work for thirty years. The allegations against him are surprising and baseless. She said there is no case but mere allegations against Sarim. If she says anything else, it will defame Pakistan.

Alia Sarim also said accusations against her husband of a horrific crime are a conspiracy. People who commit such crimes do not travel in economy class. She categorically denied her husband’s guilt and questioned the validity of his charges.
